Workers and supporters of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday erupted in celebrations as candidate Mohinder Bhagat won Punjab's Jalandhar West Assembly seat, defeating Surinder Kaur of Congress by a margin of 37,325 votes. Bhagat secured 55,246 votes while Kaur got 16,757 votes. Sheetal Angural of BJP polled 17,921 votes and Shiromani Akali Dal's (SAD) Surjit Kaur garnered 1,242 votes. The AAP cadre were seen sharing sweets, hugging each other and also dancing to the beats of the dhol.
Elsewhere in Himachal Pradesh, Congress workers began to celebrate as trends showed Kamlesh Thakur, the wife of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, leading over BJP's Hoshyar Singh by over 9,000 votes in the Dehra Assembly seat.
