Visuals show Delhi's alarming AQI, city preps for smoky November

Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) dipped into the 'unhealthy' category, with a US AQI rating of 256 on October 26. This is 21 times the WHO annual air quality guideline. 

However, experts warn that the situation is likely to worsen in November due to several factors. 

The primary cause of this deterioration is the practice of stubble burning, which typically occurs for 15-20 days between the last week of October and mid-November. This, coupled with the use of firecrackers during Diwali festival celebrations, significantly contributes to the worsening air quality.

The city's AQI is expected to escalate to 'very poor' or even 'severe' levels, causing potential health risks for its residents. Authorities are implementing measures to mitigate pollution, but the challenge remains significant.
