A 23-year-old chartered accountant has turned a side hustle into a full-time career, showing how digital platforms are opening new job paths for young professionals.

What began as a small effort after long office hours has now become a stable source of income and a flexible lifestyle.

According to a post shared on X by Portfolio_Bull, the CA, who was earlier working a demanding job, earned around Rs 8 lakh per annum while putting in nearly 12 hours a day.

Despite the decent salary, his savings remained limited. With a monthly rent of about Rs 5,000, he was able to save only around Rs 8,000 each month. The workload was high, and the financial growth felt slow.

FROM SIDE HUSTLE TO SERIOUS INCOME

One day, he decided to try something different. After office hours, he began posting short reels on Instagram, sharing simple tax tips aimed at helping people understand finances better.

The journey started slowly. After five months, he had only around 800 followers and had earned just Rs 2,000. But he remained consistent. By the end of one year, his following had grown to 25,000, and he had earned around Rs 3 lakh through his content.

Within 18 months, his earnings rose to Rs 8 lakh, signalling that his side hustle had real potential.

TAKING THE BIG LEAP

Encouraged by the growth, he decided to quit his job and focus fully on content creation. However, the decision was not easy. When he informed his parents, they were unsure.

“‘Mazak mat karo’” (Don't joke) and “Log job ke liye bhagte hain” (People run after jobs) were their immediate reactions, reflecting common concerns about leaving a stable job.

Instead of arguing, he asked for one year to prove himself in the online space.

BUILDING A NEW CAREER PATH

Today, that decision has paid off.

The young CA now has over 100,000 followers on Instagram and earns between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 15 lakh annually. More importantly, he works from home and spends only five to six hours a day on his work.

His journey reflects a growing shift in how careers are being built. For many young professionals, especially in fields like finance and education, social media is becoming more than just a platform for sharing, it is turning into a viable career option.
