New Dhurandhar film in theatres? Aditya Dhar likely to release BTS documentary
After the massive success of Dhurandhar and its sequel, Aditya Dhar is reportedly planning a first-of-its-kind theatrical release of a behind-the-scenes (BTS) film based on the franchise. The project will feature exclusive BTS footage and first interviews of stars like Ranveer Singh and Arjun Rampal.

After delivering consecutive blockbusters with Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar: The Revenge, filmmaker Aditya Dhar is looking to expand the franchise in an unconventional way. Both films have shattered box office records and collectively crossed Rs 3,000 crore, creating an unprecedented fan following. Riding on this massive success, the director is now reportedly planning a first-of-its-kind theatrical release of a behind-the-scenes (BTS) film, capturing the making of the Dhurandhar universe.
The franchise’s popularity has been marked by intense audience celebrations and attention to detail that has resonated widely.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, the makers are compiling extensive behind-the-scenes (BTS) footage and cast interviews into a full-length feature film.
“The craze for Dhurandhar is so immense that the makers have decided to turn even the making of the film into a spectacle. All the BTS footage and cast interviews will be compiled into a full-length feature film, which will be released in theatres in the last quarter of 2026 and will later stream on OTT platforms along with the films,” an insider was quoted as saying.
The report also sheds light on why the film’s lead stars, including Ranveer Singh and Arjun Rampal, have stayed away from media interactions following the film’s success.
“All the major players in the film, including actors Ranveer Singh and Arjun Rampal, as well as director Aditya Dhar, are not doing any media interactions yet because their first interviews will be part of this BTS film, which will be released directly in theatres. It’s a first for any Indian film, and the makers are ensuring that no BTS footage is leaked on social media before the film’s release,” the source added.
Since April, Dhar has been actively sharing gratitude posts dedicated to the crew members who contributed to the film’s success, including the cinematographer, choreographer, action team, music composer, makeup artists, and set designers. While he has offered glimpses through behind-the-scenes (BTS) images, videos have been deliberately withheld to preserve exclusivity for the upcoming feature.
However, there has been no official announcement regarding the same. The release of the BTS documentary could further boost the franchise’s momentum at the box office. If successful, it may also set a new trend in Indian cinema by turning the filmmaking process itself into a commercially viable extension of a blockbuster franchise.
