Krishnavataram box office Day 4: Siddharth Gupta's devotional drama sees big jump
Krishnavataram Part 1: The Heart (Hridayam) collected an estimated Rs 4.19 crore on Sunday, taking its four-day India nett total to Rs 8.77 crore. The climb came as Uttar Pradesh declared the film tax-free and ordered special screenings across districts.
Siddharth Gupta-starrer Krishnavataram Part 1: The Heart (Hridayam), which released in theatres on May 7, recorded its strongest box office performance over its opening weekend. Produced by Hardik Gajjar, the devotional drama saw its collections rise each day from Thursday to Sunday.
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the film earned an estimated Rs 4.19 crore nett on Sunday, its highest single-day collection so far. With this, its total India nett (gross minus taxes) collection has reached around Rs 8.77 crore.
The film opened with Rs 50 lakh on Thursday. Its earnings rose to Rs 1.38 crore on Friday and then to Rs 2.70 crore on Saturday, before Sunday emerged as its best-performing day during the four-day theatrical run.
Krishnavataram also received a boost in Uttar Pradesh after the state government declared it tax-free. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the decision on Sunday after attending a special screening of the film at Lok Bhavan. The government has also directed districts across the state to organise special screenings so that children and youngsters can connect with Indian culture and heritage.
Directed by Hardik Gajjar, the film was released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on May 7. Apart from Siddharth Gupta, the cast includes Sanskriti, Sushmita Bhatt and Nivashini Krishnan in key roles, while Jackie Shroff and Ashutosh Rana play pivotal characters.
The film is based on the Hindu scripture Brahma Vaivarta Purana, written by Vyasa. It explores the events in Lord Krishna's life after his separation from Radha and focusses on his journey with his wives, Rukmini and Satyabhama. The story is narrated largely from Satyabhama's perspective.
With a steady rise in collections through its opening weekend and a tax-free status in Uttar Pradesh, Krishnavataram Part 1: The Heart (Hridayam) has posted a total India nett collection of around Rs 8.77 crore in its first four days in theatres.
