Varun Dhawan's Hai Jawani… trailer launch cancelled over technical glitch
The trailer launch of Varun Dhawan's Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai was cancelled at the last minute. The makers cited a technical glitch, while sources suggested the move was linked to a legal dispute over material involving Biwi No. 1.

The trailer launch of Varun Dhawan’s upcoming film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, scheduled for May 21, was cancelled at the last minute. Directed by David Dhawan, the comedy also stars Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde. The project has already seen multiple changes to its release schedule in recent weeks.
According to the makers, the trailer launch was cancelled due to a “technical glitch,” while NDTV reported that sources suggested the sudden move could be linked to an ongoing legal tussle surrounding the film.
The film was initially slated to hit theatres on June 5 before being pushed to June 12 following the announcement of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups, starring Yash, which was scheduled for release on June 4. The makers later moved Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai up to June 4.
According to reports, the legal issue involves producer Vashu Bhagnani, Pooja Entertainment, music label Tips Music Limited and other related parties. Bhagnani, who had previously produced Biwi No.1 with David Dhawan, recently filed a lawsuit seeking to restrain the alleged unauthorised use of his films and songs.
The new film borrows its title from the popular track Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai from the 1999 comedy Biwi No.1, which starred Salman Khan, Karisma Kapoor and Sushmita Sen.
Apart from Varun, Mrunal and Pooja, the film also features Maniesh Paul, Chunky Pandey, Jimmy Shergill and Mouni Roy in key roles.
For now, the trailer launch remains cancelled, with the makers maintaining that technical issues led to the postponement, even as reports continue to point towards the legal dispute linked to Biwi No.1.
