Designer Manish Malhotra commented, "That’s my outfit (sic)." Producer Warda Khan Nadiadwala wrote, "Absolutely (heart emojis) JJ totally deserves an oscar Micheal (prayer emojis) His story continues.(sic)."

A fan commented, "Woooooooow Both icons are my favourite (sic)." Another fan wrote, "Goated pic for sure !!!queen of choreography meeting the king of pop Farhan mam tell me your most fav album of micheal jackson ?? Mine was thriller (1982 ) specifically the song Billie jean its is soo goated till now (sic)."

Apart from Michael's nephew Jaafar Jackson playing the titular role, the film also features Miles Teller as attorney John Branca, Colman Domingo as patriarch Joe Jackson, Kat Graham as Diana Ross, and Nia Long as Katherine Jackson. Also joining the ensemble are Laura Harrier, Kendrick Sampson, and Juliano Krue Valdi, who portrays a young Michael.

The film is co-produced by Graham King, John Branca and John McClain and directed by Antoine Fuqua. The screenplay has been written by John Logan, known for films such as Gladiator and Rango. In the first reviews, Jaafar's performance and musical sequences were appreciated, though the narrative's depth and its handling of the singer's complex legacy has been questioned.

Michael traces Michael’s evolution from a prodigiously talented child leading the Jackson 5 to becoming a solo superstar whose influence reshaped global pop culture. The film promises a layered portrayal, offering glimpses into both the spectacle of his performances and the private struggles that defined his life off-stage.

Michael theatrically released on April 24, 2026.
