Diljit Dosanjh on Calgary concert row: I won't let fans be harassed at my show
Diljit Dosanjh broke his silence on the disruption at his Calgary, Canada, concert, saying he would not allow anyone to harass fans or disturb his shows. In his note, the singer said the controversy was about people's intention, rather than the flags.

Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has addressed the controversy around protesters waving pro-Khalistan flags during his recent concert in Calgary, Canada, saying he would not tolerate anyone creating trouble for fans at his shows. In a note shared on his Instagram Stories on May 11, the actor-singer said the issue was not about any banner or flag, but about the intention behind it.
His statement came after videos from his Aura Tour concert in Calgary went viral online. The clips showed Dosanjh stopping the performance and asking security and organisers to remove people he said were disrupting the event.
What Diljit Dosanjh said in his post
In his Instagram Story, loosely translated into English, Dosanjh said, "Standing outside and protesting, anyone can do that. But if you try to come inside and harass my fans, that will not be tolerated. If someone brings a banner or a flag, it usually means they want to show where they’ve come from and that they support me. But if you’re standing outside with the same banner abusing my fans, and try to come inside and do the same thing, that will not be tolerated."
He added, "This is not about any banner or flag, the real issue is your intention behind it. I told security that anyone trying to disrupt the programme should be picked up and thrown out. I never said anything against any banner, so don’t spread fake narratives. I’ve been avoiding this issue since last year, but not any more. Thank you. Love & peace (peace sign emoji)."
What happened at the Calgary show
Dosanjh briefly halted his performance during his ongoing Aura Tour concert in Calgary, Canada, after members of the audience were seen waving pro-Khalistan flags. On noticing the flags, he stopped the show mid-performance and asked those involved to leave that act aside. He also directed the organisers to remove the individuals from the venue.
The flags being waved are associated with a banned organisation under India’s Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
The controversy reportedly began in October 2025, when Dosanjh appeared on Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 and touched Amitabh Bachchan’s feet on stage. During the episode, Bachchan praised him as "Punjab da puttar (son of Punjab)" for his contributions towards flood relief efforts.
Following the telecast, reports claimed that Dosanjh received threats from the group Sikhs for Justice, which is associated with the pro-Khalistan movement.
On screen, Dosanjh is set to appear in Main Vaapas Aaunga, directed by Imtiaz Ali. The film, which also features Sharvari and Vedang Raina, is scheduled for a theatrical release on June 12.
