Diljit Dosanjh missed the trailer launch of Main Vaapas Aaunga in Mumbai and addressed the audience through a video message. The upcoming film also stars Sharvari and Vedang Raina.

Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh missed the trailer launch of his upcoming Hindi film Main Vaapas Aaunga in Mumbai on Tuesday, but sent a video message from Texas to explain his absence and tell the audience that he would return soon. The makers unveiled the trailer at the event in Mumbai, while Diljit said he was away for a sold-out show in the US.
In his message, Diljit greeted the audience, asked them to watch the trailer and repeated the film's title in a playful sign-off.
Why Diljit skipped the launch
Diljit did not attend the Mumbai event because he was in Texas for a concert. In the video played at the launch, he said, "Hello folks, this is Diljit Dosanjh. Love and greetings to all. You are going to watch the trailer of Main Vaapas Aaunga, so enjoy it. I am in Texas, so I could not come. Tonight's show in Texas is sold out."
He added, "I am taking care of some things here; you do the same thing. Jaldi main bhi vaapas aaunga (I will also come back soon). Enjoy the trailer. If you like it, share it. If you don't, still share it! After all, it's Imtiaz Ali's film."

What the trailer shows
Main Vaapas Aaunga stars Naseeruddin Shah, Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari Wagh and Vedang Raina, and is directed by Imtiaz Ali. The trailer points to a love story set during the India-Pakistan Partition and centres on longing, memory and belonging.
It opens with Shah's character sharing his final wish: he wants to visit his pind (village), Sargodha, now in Pakistan's Punjab, where he lived before Partition. The trailer hints at a love story set during the India-Pakistan Partition and centres on longing, memory and belonging.
The three-minute-and-10-second trailer also introduces Vedang as a young Naseeruddin Shah, in love with Sharvari's character. It moves between a personal story and a larger historical backdrop, raising questions about whether love can fade with time and whether home can ever leave someone's heart.
In one line from the trailer, Diljit says, "Ye ho sakta hai - apne dil ke andar ek ladki ko rakhna jise 78 years se dekha tak nahi [Is it possible to love a girl whom you haven't even seen for 78 years]?"
More about the film

The film is scheduled to release in theatres on June 12.
