Nawazuddin Siddiqui slams actors using paid negative PR: This phase is at extreme
Nawazuddin Siddiqui has spoken about actors using paid negative PR against one another in Bollywood. He said the trend has reached an extreme phase and is harming creativity.

In the present age of social media, paid negative PR has increasingly become a common trend. Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui spoke about how some actors are engaging in paid negative PR against one another.
Nawazuddin, in an interview with Zoom, discussed the rising trend of manufactured negativity in Bollywood. He said, "This phase is at a full extreme."
The actor highlighted that the situation has reached a peak, suggesting that even stranger things are likely to occur before this current phase ends. "Much more is left to be seen, and that too is going to happen in this phase only. So this is a strange world," he added.
"I think this will remain for some time. After that, they say when bad times come, there are bad times for everything. For creativity, too, it is bad. Maybe after some years, a good time will come. People will start recognising the right things without any meaningless hatred," Nawazuddin went on.
He further emphasised that time eventually reveals the difference between reality and deception to the public. Expressing his disappointment, the actor expressed surprise at how superficial the industry has become, while mentioning that one can simply pay a small group of people to praise an actor's talent and the audience will blindly accept it as the truth.
"Where did their own education go? Where did their ability to understand go? Yes, if I give money to 10 people and tell them you are very good, then the eleventh one himself will say it. This is weird," Nawazuddin added. He also mentioned that actors like him do not need such tactics, as they have confidence in their craft and work.
Nawazuddin, will next be seen in Main Actor Nahin Hoon, helmed by director Aditya Kripalani. The film also features actor Chitrangada Singh in a crucial role. The story follows a struggling actor in Mumbai who connects with a retired banker based in Frankfurt through online acting sessions. As their interactions deepen, the two confront personal struggles, emotional challenges and cultural differences, forming an unexpected bond across continents.
Nawazuddin's last theatrical release was director Aditya Sarpotdar's horror comedy Thamma, featuring actors Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna and Paresh Rawal in key roles.
The Netflix thriller, Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders (2025), a sequel to the 2020 film, Raat Akeli Hai also featured Nawazuddin alongside Radhika Apte, Deepti Naval, Rajat Kapoor, Revathi, Sanjay Kapoor, Ila Arun and others.
Main Actor Nahin Hoon is set for a theatrical release on May 8, 2026.
