Shahana Goswami admits to open relationship, multiple partners: Nothing is hidden
Actor Shahana Goswami has opened up about being in an open relationship and why "nothing is hidden" from her partners. The actor also spoke about love, freedom and her past relationship with Milind Soman.

Actor Shahana Goswami has opened up about being in an open relationship, saying the people she is involved with are fully aware that she is physically intimate with others as well. Speaking on Siddharth Kannan’s YouTube podcast, the Rock On! actor said there are “no secrets” in her relationships and that openness, for her, is rooted in honest communication and emotional clarity.
Goswami also revealed that she currently does not have one “primary partner”, adding that the relationships in her life are built on “love and friendship” rather than conventional labels. Her remarks have sparked conversation online, particularly around her candid take on modern relationships, emotional freedom and long-term bonding.
What did Shahana Goswami say about open relationships?
Explaining her idea of openness, Goswami said her relationships are not casual, even if they do not follow traditional structures.
“At this point, I don’t even have one primary partner like that. I have many people with whom I have long-standing dynamics, but it’s not casual. None of it is casual for me,” she said.
The actor added that her partners know about her physical intimacy with others and that transparency is central to how she approaches relationships. According to Goswami, openness requires self-work, emotional maturity and the ability to deal with jealousy honestly.
She also dismissed the idea that open relationships necessarily involve emotional detachment or ghosting. “It’s not like I ghost people,” she said during the conversation, while discussing how communication remains important in her personal life.
Why did Shahana Goswami and Milind Soman break up?
In the same interview, Goswami also revisited her past relationship with actor and model Milind Soman. She revealed that she first became fascinated by Soman as a teenager after watching one of his films and eventually found his contact details online.
According to Goswami, the two stayed connected over text messages for nearly six years before eventually dating when they were both single. Their relationship later ended in 2013.
“It’s just about timing. Till the very end, we were in love with each other,” she said, adding that they ultimately realised they wanted different things from a relationship.
What has Shahana Goswami said about love and freedom?
Throughout the podcast, Goswami repeatedly spoke about her belief that love should not feel restrictive. She said she values emotional freedom deeply and believes relationships should evolve naturally instead of being forced into fixed structures.
“I always felt that love should be free,” she said, adding that the idea has shaped both the relationships she chooses and the way they develop over time.
Goswami, who gained recognition with Rock On! in 2008, has also appeared in films such as Firaaq, Midnight’s Children and Despatch. She was most recently seen in Santosh, which premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival but faced release issues in India due to censorship concerns.
