Actor Rajpal Yadav got candid about his love story with wife Radha and shared how they met in Canada. He also recalled his father-in-law's first impression and shared how Radha's honesty shapes his life and work.

Actor Rajpal Yadav, during a recent podcast, shared insights into his relationship with his wife, Radha. He spoke candidly about the beginnings of their relationship, the reaction of their family and friends, as well as Radha's honest opinion regarding his work projects.
Speaking to journalist Shubhankar Mishra, Rajpal mentioned meeting Radha in Canada's Calgary. He humorously questioned how someone from Uttar Pradesh could find a life partner there. Reflecting on their journey, he expressed his surprise at how she became his backbone and provided unwavering support throughout the years.
'Langoor ko hoor mil gayi'
With a touch of humour, Rajpal shared a saying from his aunt, "Langoor ko hoor mil gay", which translates to a plain man getting a beautiful wife. He admitted feeling the same way about his marriage.
The actor then emphasised the role of women in his life. The 55-year-old said that he owes his happiness to their influence, whether as a mother or a partner.
First impressions and family acceptance
He recounted an amusing anecdote about his father-in-law's initial impression. The first image his father-in-law saw was of Rajpal's character from the film Jungle, where he was looking fierce with a gun. However, upon meeting him, he realised Rajpal was just an ordinary man.
Honesty over flattery
Rajpal also appreciated Radha's honesty regarding his work. He recalled instances where she questioned his choice of films. The actor said, “There have been times when I took her to a premiere, and on the way back, we ended up arguing—she would ask, ‘Do you think you should have done this film?’ She doesn’t believe in flattery." He added that if his wife doesn't like something, she says it openly.
The couple's relationship is anchored in mutual respect. Rajpal further admired Radha's linguistic skills and noted her proficiency in five languages.
He humorously shared that his friends often express surprise at his marriage.
Life beyond the spotlight
At home, Radha plays a crucial role in managing their daily life. Rajpal joked about trusting her choices, even in selecting his clothes.
In an earlier interview with The Lallantop, Rajpal recounted meeting Radha while shooting in Canada. After staying in touch for three years, they married in 2003 with the consent of their families.
Radha effortlessly adapted to Rajpal's world and embraced his village customs without being asked. Her ability to blend into different environments impressed Rajpal, who had no role in these adjustments.
The actor was previously married at 20, but his first wife died during childbirth. He has a daughter from his first marriage and three children with Radha.
Professionally, he was recently seen in Akshay Kumar's Bhooth Bangla. The film was released in theatres on April 17.
