Actor Sydney Sweeney will not appear in the final cut of The Devil Wears Prada 2, despite having filmed a scene for the much-anticipated sequel. According to Entertainment Weekly, the actor’s cameo was removed as part of a “creative decision”.

Sweeney was clicked on the film’s set in mid-2025, sparking curiosity about her role in the project, which sees the return of Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt. However, sources indicate that her scene – originally placed early in the film – was eventually cut during the editing process.

The sequel revisits journalist Andy Sachs (Hathaway) as she reconnects with Miranda Priestly (Streep) and Nigel Kipling (Tucci) amid a crisis at Runway magazine. They turn to Emily Charlton (Blunt), now heading Dior’s US operations, for support. Sweeney’s scene was reportedly tied to Emily’s introduction, showing her styling a celebrity client.

While the sequence did not make the final edit, the makers are said to have appreciated Sweeney’s involvement in the project. Representatives for Disney and the actor have not commented on the development.

Sweeney has remained in the spotlight with her work on Euphoria Season 3, alongside recent attention around an American Eagle 'Jeans' campaign controversy that drew mixed reactions online. The actor later addressed the controversy, distancing herself from interpretations linked to the advertisement.

Directed by David Frankel, the sequel The Devil Wears Prada 2 also features appearances from Lady Gaga, who has contributed to the soundtrack. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on May 1.
