Kathanar teaser trailer: Jayasurya-Anushka Shetty's film set for monsoon release

The teaser trailer for Jayasurya and Anushka Shetty's Kathanar - The Sorcerer was unveiled on March 31, confirming a monsoon release. The two-minute-58-second-long glimpse introduces the titular character as a force to be reckoned with. The teaser trailer has piqued everyone's curiosity without revealing too much of the plot.

The film is said to be based on Kathanar, a priest from Kerala, who is believed to have supernatural powers. However, the trailer gives an indication that the character has been designed in a completely different way based on the stories we've heard before.

While Jayasurya gets an intriguing introduction, we see glimpses of Anushka Shetty's character.

The makers of Kathanar are planning for a pan-India release and are confident of offering a grand cinematic experience. On March 31, the makers shared the teaser trailer in six languages - Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and English.

Kathanar will also release in eight other international languages, according to the press release.

Rojin Thomas, in a statement, said, "The film has reached this level of quality through the daily efforts of around 500 people working across various departments for nearly five years. The courage and vision shown by Gokulam Gopalan and executive producer Krishnamoorthy in backing such a massive project deserve appreciation."

The director gave a shout-out to actor Jayasurya for dedicating five years of his career to this film.

Directed by Rojin Thomas of Home fame, the film is jointly written by Ramanand and himself. The shooting of the film was wrapped up last year and is in the final stages of production.

While Baiju Gopalan and VC Praveen are co-producers, Krishnamoorthy is the executive producer. Composer Rahul Subhramanyan, cinematographer Neil D Cunha, production designer Rajeevan and action director Jungjin Park are part of the technical team. Apart from direction, Rojin will also take care of editing, VFX direction and action design.

Kathanar - The Sorcerer features an ensemble cast including Jayasurya, Anushka Shetty, Prabhudeva, Sanoop San, Sandy, Devika, Nitish Bharadwaj, Vineeth, Harish Uthaman, Sreekanth Murali and Kulpreet Yadav in pivotal roles.
