Filmmaker-actor R Parthiban met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay and presented him with a handwritten letter and a custom-made painting, months after his remarks about Trisha Krishnan sparked controversy on social media. A few weeks ago, Parthiban took an indirect dig at Trisha and said that she should 'sit at home', referring to her public appearance at a wedding with Vijay in Chennai.

The meeting took place after Vijay's victory in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Photos shared online showed the two smiling and posing together, with Parthiban gifting the newly elected Chief Minister a specially commissioned artwork and a personal note.

Here's the image:

The painting portrays Vijay in regal attire from a bygone era, standing beside a throne. Parthiban also wrote a message on the artwork in Tamil, praising Vijay's transition from cinema to politics.

The note roughly translates to: "From the world of cinema to the Chief Minister's chair. To usher in a peaceful and stable administration, Vijay ascends the throne of leadership. Congratulations to the Chief Minister who has shaken the political landscape."

What happened between Parthiban and Trisha?

The meeting has drawn attention because it comes months after Parthiban found himself at the centre of a controversy involving Trisha.

In March, Vijay and Trisha made headlines after attending a wedding reception in Chennai in coordinated outfits. The appearance fuelled speculation online and attracted widespread discussion, particularly as it came shortly after Vijay's wife, Sankgeetha Sornalingam, had cited alleged extra-marital affair with a female actor in divorce proceedings.

Vijay and Trisha's public appearance made headlines as curiosity and questions about the nature of their relationship rose after Sankgeetha's divorce filing.

Commenting on photographs from the event, Parthiban had referenced Trisha's character Kundavai from Ponniyin Selvan and remarked, "This Kundavai should be kept at home for a few days. That's good. Don't let her come out."

The statement triggered backlash, with many accusing him of unfairly targeting Trisha.

Parthiban later issued a clarification through a video message. Defending his remarks, he said critics were reacting to only a portion of what he had said.

"Many are asking why I criticised the woman and not the man. I want to clarify that people are reacting to only one part of the video. Right or wrong, the man has an equal role in it," he said, adding that the issue should not have become a public controversy during the election period.

Here's the post:

Trisha subsequently hit back at the remarks in a strongly worded post on X. She also claimed that her name and photograph had been added to an event presentation at the last minute at someone's request.

In her statement, Trisha added, "A microphone doesn’t make a comment intelligent or humorous. It just makes stupidity louder. Crude words without knowledge say more about the speaker than the person they’re aimed at (sic)."

Shortly after Trisha’s post, Parthiban issued an apology on X. His post read, "What happened. Has gone all wrong in this. There's no way but to regret! (sic)." The apology followed mounting criticism and calls for accountability over his statements at the event.
