He also spoke about what the film taught him as an actor and as a person, while opening up about an injury he suffered shortly before shooting a wrestling sequence. Charan said the experience of playing the character pushed him further in his craft and left him feeling satisfied beyond just his work as an actor.

Ram Charan takes pride in his Peddi character

Speaking about the role, Charan said, "I am very fortunate to be playing the character. We are representing a section of people that are unheard, who need the voice and need the recognition. And to play a character like that, which is very necessary in a country like India. I feel very proud and fortunate to come across the role like this."

He added that Peddi was "the most difficult character I played" and said getting into the skin of the character was interesting. He said he learnt a lot as an actor during the journey of the film and felt he had "upped" his game while working on it. He also said the journey was satisfying overall, not just as an actor but also as a person.

Charan also spoke about staying grounded, crediting the people around him for keeping him humble. "My co-actors humble me a lot. Working with great talents humbles me, great success humbles me and somebody like my father at home, all these things humble me. I am humbled by all of this. So how can you be anything but have gratitude and be humbled," he said.

Ram Charan opens up on his wrist injury

Speaking about his wrist injury, Charan said it happened three or four days before the team was to shoot the wrestling scene.

He said he "heard a click that felt like a cartilage tear" and avoided getting an MRI immediately because he feared the diagnosis would weigh on his mind while filming the sequence.

"It was one tear, but now it's seven tears because of the 20 days of shoot. I just had to get through the film and wanted it to come on June 4," he said.

Besides his wrist injury, Ram Charan also suffered a minor eye injury on the sets of his movie earlier in March.

A source close to the team confirmed to the publication, “Ram Charan was shooting for an action sequence and sustained an injury. He needed four sutures. The injury is above his eye, not in the eye, as some reports suggested. His eye is completely fine.”

Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi, an upcoming sports drama, also stars Janhvi Kapoor, Boman Irani and Divyenndu in key roles. The Telugu drama is set to release in theatres on June 4.
