Ram Charan on intense body transformation for Peddi: Even lifting my daughter hurts
Ram Charan talked about the intense body transformation he underwent for Peddi, moving between lean and bulky physiques for the role. He admitted the physical strain continues even after filming, saying simple actions like lifting his daughter have become painful.

Ram Charan opened up about the intense physical demands of his upcoming film Peddi, revealing that the extreme body transformation he underwent has left a lasting impact on his body. He added that the strain is still affecting his everyday life, including simple activities like lifting his daughter.
Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the sports drama required the actor to shift between drastically different physiques, making the role one of his most physically challenging yet.
During a unique promotional drive through the streets of Hyderabad with director Buchi Babu Sana, Ram opened up about the rigorous process behind his character development and the challenges of switching between drastically different body types.
Two different looks for Ram Charan
Ram revealed that he had to undergo a transformation for two different looks in Peddi.
He said, “For the torture you put me through to achieve all those body types first, you asked for a cricketer’s physique and then a wrestler’s physique. They are both extremely different. A cricketer is lean, like Tilak Varma or Hardik Pandya. You wanted that kind of body. Then, after a few days, he needed a bulkier body to play kabaddi. Then you told me to get a wrestler’s body.”
Director Buchi Babu Sana revealed that he was initially hesitant to ask Ram Charan for such drastic physical transformation. However, Ram responded by expressing that he deeply enjoyed the entire process, adding that fatigue never set in because he was doing work he truly loved and that the experience felt completely natural to him.
The actor also spoke about the physical toll the transformations took after the shoot concluded. “Now that the shoot is over, pains are surfacing from everywhere,” he said.
Elaborating further, he added, “Even lifting my daughter hurts this hand. I need to get an X-ray. Constant grabbing during wrestling caused tremors. It did something to this hand.”
Ram also revealed that the wrestlers featured in the film struggled to act because of their sporting instincts and would instinctively begin wrestling as soon as the director said “action”. Despite this, the team managed to complete the shoot without any major injuries.
The actor concluded by reflecting on his history of on-set injuries across films, noting that he had broken his leg during RRR, suffered an injury during Rangasthalam, and cut his lip while shooting Game Changer.
He added that, despite these past incidents, Peddi stood out as a smooth production where not a single day of shooting was halted, calling it a matter of “God’s grace.”
