Fact check: Truth behind Rukmini Vasanth's viral bikini pics

Actor Rukmini Vasanth recently found herself at the centre of online chatter after a set of bikini photos and videos, allegedly featuring her, went viral across social media platforms. The visuals showed a woman stepping into a swimming pool wearing a green bikini during what appeared to be a professional photoshoot setup.

As the clips spread rapidly online, many users believed the visuals were of the Kantara: Chapter 1 actor. However, the viral picture that everybody seems to be talking about is deepfake.

The online attention is centred not only on the look in the shoot, but also on the fact that this is being described as her first bikini photoshoot. No statement has been issued on the viral visuals so far.

Her journey in films

At the India Today South Conclave 2025, Rukmini Vasanth said she does not measure her journey by labels and is more interested in the work she gets to do. Referring to projects such as Toxic and Kantara: Chapter 1, she said she feels privileged to be part of strong work and that the larger aim is to be associated with quality stories that reach people.

She also reflected on Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, which she described as an important turning point in her career. She said the film gave her a substantial role with complex emotions, and recalled that she had reached out directly to the director on social media to ask for an audition.

In the same conversation, she spoke about learning from actors such as Yash and Rishab Shetty, and about choosing roles by looking at the larger perspective of a film rather than reducing them to labels.
