As the Malayalam box office continues to be dominated by Vaazha 2, another film, Bharathanatyam 2 Mohiniyattam, has emerged as a strong performer. Released nearly a week after Vaazha 2, the film is showing steady growth and success, not just in Kerala but in other markets as well.

According to a Sacnilk report, the film has collected Rs 21.50 crore worldwide within 10 days of its theatrical run. Mounted on a modest budget, it has sustained momentum, marking a notable success in the Malayalam film industry. Despite facing stiff competition from Vaazha 2, the film has grossed Rs 13.30 crore in India and Rs 8.20 crore from overseas markets, taking its worldwide total to Rs 21.50 crore. The India net collection stands at Rs 11.54 crore, reflecting consistent occupancy across regions.

Reports suggest that outside Kerala, the film has also contributed through collections in Karnataka, adding to its domestic total. Internationally, it has performed well, earning over USD 630K from the Middle East, followed by USD 123K from the United Kingdom, USD 69K from North America, and USD 58K from Australia and New Zealand.

Starring Saiju Kurup in his 150th film alongside Suraj Venjaramoodu, the dark comedy has already been declared a clean hit at the box office. If the current trend continues, trade expects it to move towards a stronger verdict in the coming weeks. The film’s performance is particularly notable given the dominance of Vaazha 2 in Kerala. Its run highlights the continued audience support for content-driven films, even in a competitive theatrical landscape.

Meanwhile, buoyed by strong word of mouth and steady footfall, the Malayalam film Vaazha 2: Biopic of a Billion Boys has turned into a box office blockbuster. Directed by Savin SA, the coming-of-age comedy drama, released on April 2, crossed the Rs 200 crore mark worldwide within just 17 days of its theatrical run, setting a new benchmark.
