Kamal Haasan's Hindu terror remark sparks row

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded the arrest of Kamal Haasan over the Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) chief's remark that Mahatma Gandhi's assassin Nathuram Godse was independent India's first terrorist.

Addressing an election rally at Aravakurichi in Tamil Nadu on Monday, Kamal Haasan said: "I am not saying this because this is a Muslim-dominated area, but I am saying this in front of a statue of Gandhi. Free India's first terrorist was a Hindu, his name is Nathuram Godse. There it [terrorism, apparently] starts."

Video: Vijay swears in as Tamil Nadu CM amid roars, chants of frenzied crowd

TVK leader C Joseph Vijay on Sunday took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu amid a sea of supporters, his friends and family, and several political leaders. Eight other TVK leaders were sworn in besides him, as ministers in the new government. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also attended the ceremony. The TVK managed to secure the Governor's nod to form the government after the Congress, the CPI, the CPI(M), the VCK, and IUML extended their support to the Vijay-led party for a colaition government.
