Lingayat minority status ahead of polls; Rahul Gandhi to tour Karnataka; TDP, YSRCP prepare for no-confidence vote; more

In the poll-bound state of Karnataka, the state cabinet is set to recommed the electorally influential community of Lingayatas as a separate religious group under section 2D of the Minority Act.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi is on a two-day visit to Karnataka that is set to go to elections this year. He will kick-start his tour from Udupi and will visit a temple, a mosque and a church in Mangaluru city.

The Telugu Desam Party and the YSR Congress have asked all their MPs to be present in Parliament today for a vote on a motion of no-confidence against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's NDA government. The no-trust vote didn't happen Monday since the Lok Sabha was adjourned following a ruckus in the House.
