US court declines plea of Mumbai terror attacks accused, Cauvery row; more

A US court has denied the writ of habeas corpus filed by Pakistani-origin Canadian businessman Tahawwur Rana, paving the way for US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to issue a certificate for him to be extradited to India where he is facing a trial for his alleged involvement in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. 

Taking strong exception to the Karnataka government's decision to release Cauvery river water to Tamil Nadu, opposition BJP and JD(S) have accused the Congress dispensation of 'betraying' the people of the state and its farmers for the sake of politics and saving its INDIA bloc ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
