What started as Sonu Nigam's Twitter rant on the early morning Azaan, turned into a nationwide spectacle when the singer shaved his head in response to a fatwa issued by a Kolkata-based cleric who announced a 10-lakh reward for anyone who would tonsure the singer and garland him with old shoes. The singer reacted to the fatwa, saying that ironically this was "so not religous gundagardi" and he would do the honours himself.
