Congress sources say the party has reached out to Sachin Pilot after he was sacked as the PCC chief. Congress leaders have asked Sachin Pilot to stop accepting BJP’s hospitality while lodging in Haryana while senior leaders are said to be reaching out to the rebel leader in a last-ditch attempt to bring him back. Party leader Randeep Singh Surjewala has said Sachin Pilot is a family member and he should come back to the party fold.
Meanwhile, the party leaders have asked Ashok Gehlot to rein in his attacks on Sachin Pilot and stop making scathing statements in the media. Gehlot has alleged horse trading attempts to topple his government but has stopped short of naming Sachin Pilot after the party’s plans to reach out to him. Rahul Gandhi is said to have stepped in and asked party leaders to send a message across to Sachin Pilot that he is a member of the party and its doors are always open for him. CM Ashok Gehlot, too, has been informed of the decision by the party and his approval was also taken to go ahead.
The Congress has meanwhile sought the disqualification of Sachin Pilot and 18 other rebel MLAs.
