Alyssa Healy has confirmed that Mitchell Starc is carrying an injury, and shutdown the debate around the Australian pacer's commitment to playing in the IPL and for Delhi Capitals.
Starc, who retired from T20Is and missed the T20 World Cup 2026, is yet to link up with the Delhi squad ahead of their season opener. The left-arm pacer played all five Ashes Tests against England and the latter portion of the Big Bash League. Along with Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins, the left-arm pacer is expected to have a delayed start to his IPL 2026 campaign.

However, Hazlewood and Cummins have already linked up with the RCB and SRH squads ahead of the season opener, with Delhi still awaiting the arrival of Starc. A DC fan decided to air his grievances on one of Starc's recent Instagram posts. The fan said that it was unfair on the franchise that Starc won't be available for them in the first few games while Cummins and Hazlewood have joined their teams.

"This is so unfair to us @delhicapitals fan that Hazelwood and Cummins despite being injured will be available for their teams but you wont be," said the fan.

Healy didn't take the words too kindly and stated that the reason that Starc is yet to join the DC squad is because he is carrying an injury and isn't fit to bowl.

"@anmol_is_here probably cause he’s injured mateif he can’t bowl how’s he supposed to play?!" said Healy.

WHAT DID DC SAY ABOUT STARC'S ABSENCE?

DC coach Hemang Badani said that they're still waiting to get the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Cricket Australia in Starc's case.

“We are waiting to get the NOC from Cricket Australia. Once we get that, we will know when he will join us. We are in constant touch with CA. He has been bowling, he had bowled a few days back. Unless Cricket Australia signs off on him that he is fit to play, there is little a franchise can do," said Badani.

DC will start their campaign on April 1 against LSG in Lucknow.
