Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the IPL 2026 match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals from the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.
RR vs CSK Live: Royals seal statement win to kick off IPL 2026
A commanding all-round performance sees Rajasthan Royals begin their IPL 2026 campaign in style, outplaying Chennai Super Kings across all departments. From a strong start with the bat to disciplined bowling and sharp fielding, RR ticked every box on the night.
For CSK, it’s a result that will prompt serious reflection early in the season, with questions around combinations and execution.

IPL 2026 Live: A complete Royals show
A complete performance from Rajasthan Royals as they dominate with bat, ball and in the field. Riyan Parag has been particularly impressive, leading with confidence and composure in his new role as captain.
On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings have plenty to reflect on. Questions are likely to be raised around their preparation, team balance and the decision to leave out Sarfaraz Khan from the playing XI.
IPL 2026 Live: Jaiswal finding his groove, slowly but surely
Yashasvi Jaiswal hasn’t quite timed the ball cleanly tonight, but he gets a bit of fortune as one flies away to the boundary.
Matt Henry, meanwhile, hasn’t been as effective as he would have hoped, with CSK struggling to build pressure at this stage.
As the chase slips away, Chennai Super Kings may need to reassess where things have gone wrong.
RR vs CSK Live: Parag does a madness
Riyan Parag pulls out the reverse sweep here and sends it flying well over the ropes. Sheer class from the RR captain here. He seems very relaxed here. Nonchalant and just looking to get down to business tonight.
RR vs CSK Live: Parag shows class, answers Steyn’s praise in style
Riyan Parag continues to impress with his range, picking up a slower short ball from Khaleel Ahmed and slapping it cleanly towards long-off.
On commentary, Dale Steyn had just highlighted Parag’s versatility against different variations — and the RR skipper responded instantly, handling the change of pace with ease.
A shot that underlines his growing maturity and class at the crease.
RR vs CSK Live: Jurel falls after brisk cameo
Dhruv Jurel’s promising knock comes to an end as he misses a ramp attempt and sees the ball crash into the stumps. He had been riding his luck a bit, looking to keep the boundaries flowing, while Anshul Kamboj stayed disciplined, targeting the stumps.
A handy cameo from Jurel nonetheless, setting things up nicely for Rajasthan Royals. With the platform built, another batter could now step in to finish the job quickly.
RR vs CSK Live: Jaiswal joins the charge as RR eye quick finish
Yashasvi Jaiswal is now accelerating from his end, pulling off a classy uppercut for a boundary as Rajasthan Royals build momentum in the chase.
With both batters finding their rhythm, RR look well on course to wrap this up quickly — and give their net run rate a significant early boost.
RR vs CSK Live: Jurel makes strong early statement at No.3
Dhruv Jurel is making the most of his promotion, showing intent early with a couple of crisp boundaries off Jamie Overton.
The youngster looks confident at the crease, and this positive start could reinforce Rajasthan Royals’ decision to back him at No.3. Early signs suggest RR might have found a solid top-order option for the long run.
RR vs CSK Live: Dhruv Jurel at No.3?
An interesting tactical call from Rajasthan Royals as Dhruv Jurel walks in at No.3, ahead of the in-form Shimron Hetmyer.
Given Hetmyer’s impressive run in the recent T20 World Cup, many would have expected the West Indies power-hitter to take up that role. Instead, RR seem to be backing Jurel for stability in the top order, possibly holding Hetmyer back for a finisher’s role later in the innings.
A move that could shape how RR structure their chase or set up their innings tonight.
IPL 2026 Live: Suryavanshi's knock comes to an end
CSK finally get the breakthrough but it does not look it will change the outcome. Suryavanshi is disappointed with himself with that. Found out Sarfaraz Khan at the deep cover region to take a brilliant catch.
RR vs CSK Live: Vaibhav Suryavanshi on fire, races to 38 (13)
Vaibhav Suryavanshi has looked a class apart. What second-season syndrome? This 15-year-old looks to dominate the batting charts this year as well.
He has raced to 38 off just 13 balls.
At the other end, Yashasvi Jaiswal has been playing second fiddle, and he seems to be happy with it.
Rajasthan have raced 50 in just the 5th over.
CSK vs RR Live: No stopping to Sooryavanshi
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is up and running in a flash, 23 off just eight balls, taking on Matt Henry with intent. He read the slower one early and carved it over deep backward point for six, mixing power with placement, while Yashasvi Jaiswal played the supporting hand as the pressure piled on.
Khaleel bowls an eventful over
Khaleel Ahmed delivered an eventful over that had a bit of everything, from a wasted DRS to moments of sharp bowling and a streak of fortune for the batters. He beat Yashasvi Jaiswal with a lively delivery that jagged back in, nearly drawing an inside edge, and followed it up with disciplined lines that kept the opener watchful. However, just as he seemed to be building pressure, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi broke the rhythm with a typical aggressive stroke, slicing a length ball over point for a boundary, ensuring the over ended on a positive note for the batting side.
Matt Henry leaks 18 runs in low run chase
Matt Henry endured a forgettable start with the ball as he leaked 18 runs in his opening over, with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi taking full advantage. Jaiswal began with a couple and a boundary to fine leg, while Sooryavanshi counterattacked aggressively, smashing a six over deep midwicket and benefiting from a dropped catch that trickled to the fence for four. A misfield early in the over added to Henry’s woes, as CSK batters capitalised on both poor execution and sloppy fielding to seize early momentum.
RR vs CSK Live: Jamie Overton's 43 helps CSK post 127
A 33-run partnership for the final wicket gives Chennai Super Kings 127.
Jamie Overton played the lone warrior's role with a 43.
Nothing else worked for Chennai Super Kings in Guwahati.
Rajasthan Royals were on top of their game. Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger jolted the top--order after which Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with two wickets in the same over. Each of the Rajasthan Royals bowlers, including debutant Brijesh Sharma, played a role.
Can Rajasthan Royals knock off this target? Or will there be help for Chennai bowlers on this pitch?
RR vs CSK Live: Chennai set to post a 120-plus total, thanks to Overton
Can the CSK bowlers do something with this total? It looks unlikely, considering the batting firepower in the Rajasthan Royals camp. There will be dew in the second half, making it difficult for the Super Kings bowlers.
Nonetheless, a good effort from Jamie Overton. He was picked for his all-round skills last year. He was not able to showcase his batting ability. This year, in the first match, Overton has been good.
IPL live score: CSK's lowest totals in IPL history
Chennai Super Kings have been bowled out for less than 100 only twice in the IPL.
Will it be the third time today?

RR vs CSK live score: A terrific show from Brijesh Sharma
A terrific show of medium pace bowling from Bijesh Sharma. You need to laud the Rajasthan Royals scouts for giving him an opportunity.
He is bowling slower ones, faster ones and even back-of-the-hand slower ones. Good variation that can serve him well.
One to watch out for in the rest of the season.
Wondering who is Brijesh? We have got you covered.
An uncapped right-arm pacer from Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir, Brijesh was picked up by Rajasthan Royals for his base price of Rs 30 lakhs at the IPL 2026 auction in Abu Dhabi. At the time of his selection, he had not played professional cricket yet, making his call-up a notable bet on potential. (Read more about him).
RR vs CSK Live Score: Can CSK get to 100?
Eight down! Jofra Archer is getting swing in the 13th over. This is sensational bowling from the Rajasthan Royals. He induces the outside edge. Noor Ahmed perishes after trying to play a wild cover drive.
Jamie Overton is playing a lone battle. Matt Henry is the new man in. He can hold his bat.
Can CSK bat out 20 overs? It looks unlikely now.
WATCH: Ravindra Jadeja celebrates twin strikes vs CSK
When Ravindra Jadeja struck in his first over against the Chennai Super Kings, he celebrated with a lot of passion.
CSK fans, how do you see this?

RR vs CSK Live: Debutant dismisses debutant, CSK slip further
This is going nowhere for Chennai Super Kings. Youngster Kartik Sharma, on debut, has fallen for 13 after missing a fuller-length delivery.
Brijesh Sharma, the debutant, gets the wicket.
CSK are yet to go past 80 and they have lost seven wickets. Can they get to 100 in Guwahati?
Noor Ahmed has joined Jamie Overton in the middle.
RR vs CSK Live Score: Pace is pace, yaar!
Rajasthan Royals decimated the Chennai Super Kings top-order with raw pace. Nandre Burger and Jofra Archer made the most of the conditions at the start to get the big wickets of Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad.
This Chennai Super Kings line-up lacks experience in the batting department.
Do they need MS Dhoni in this XI?

RR vs CSK live: Ravindra Jadeja strikes twice in his first over vs CSK
What an over for Ravindra Jadeja! The ex-Chennai Super Kings captain strikes twice in his first over against his former franchise.
Two big wickets. Sarfaraz Khan fell when he tried to sweep the left-arm pacer.
And big-hitting Shivam Dube falls, while trying to clear the long-off fielder. He found the fielder as he could not connect it well. Who said left-arm spinners can't bowl to left-handed batters?
Yes, Dube smashed one into the stands, but Jadeja quickly adjusted his line and length to get the big wicket.
And Jadeja gives Dube a send-off. Scenes in Guwahati!
IPL 2026 live score: Matt Short's stay ends, Sandeep gets the wicket
Chennai Super Kings have lost their fourth wicket. A slower ball from Sandeep Sharma and Matt Short chips it straight into the hands of the mid-on fielder.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who took the catch, was complaining about visibility.
That was a nothing innings from Matt Short. He never looked set to get going when batting with Sarfaraz, who was trying to be busy.
RR vs CSK Live: Sarfaraz Khan counter attacks
Sarfaraz Khan is showing the spite that the top-order did not. He danced down the track and hit Nandre Burger for a six over fine-leg.
The Guwahati crowd, filled with yellow shirts, has found its voice. It's cheering for Sarfaraz, who was originally not in the Playing XI.
Can the Impact Sub make a big impact for CSK?
With only Shivam Dube, Kartik Sharma, and Jamie Overton, CSK need these two - Sarfaraz and Short - to build a good partnership. Can they?
RR vs CSK Live: Mhatre out for 0, Sarfaraz Khan, the Impact Sub, is in
Well, Sarfaraz Khan, the Impact Player, has walked into the bat now. Familiar scenes of panic in the dressing room now.
They have had to send an Impact Sub in the first innings.
Ayush Mhatre got a sensational bouncer from Nandre Burger. It kissed his glove before Dhruv Jurel caught it. A very good bouncer to an 18-year-old.
Chennai Super Kings' top-order is in tatters.
RR vs CSK Live Score: Ruturaj Gaikwad's struggle ends, plays poor shot
RR vs CSK live score: Sanju Samson fails on Chennai debut
That was a poor cross-batted shot. Sanju Samson was in no position to play an attacking shot.
Coming from over the wicket, Nandre Burger bowled a good length delivery that left the right-hander. It hit the top of the off-stump.
Burger is thrilled. So is Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag
RR vs CSK Live Score: A testing first over from Archer to Samson
That was the battle we waited for, right? Sanju Samson was beaten and troubled by Jofra Archer.
Samson edged a fuller delivery, and it flew straight through the vacant slip cordon to a boundary. Why did Riyan Parag not have a traditional slip fielder?
Samson was lucky to survive that wonderful first over from Archer. The English pacer bowled with a lot of heat and accuracy. Unlike the T20 World Cup semifinal in Mumbai, Samson kept it full and invited the drive. There he bowled short and paid the price for it.
Meanwhile, Ruturaj Gaikwad has looked steady.
