VAIBHAV SOORYAVANSHI'S INCREDIBLE RISE

A young Vaibhav Suryavanshi made headlines when he debuted for Bihar in the Ranji Trophy at the age of 12, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh in the list of youngest debutants in the domestic first-class tournament. He scored 31 runs across two first-class matches against Mumbai and Chhattisgarh in 2024.

The youngster began turning heads later that year during the Youth Test series against Australia. Playing at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai as a 13-year-old, Vaibhav smashed a century in just 58 balls in his maiden red-ball match for the India Under-19 team.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s 58-ball hundred was second only to former England all-rounder Moeen Ali, who had scored a 56-ball century for England Under-19 in 2005. Vaibhav hammered 14 boundaries and four sixes during his destructive knock. He was eventually run out for 104 off just 62 deliveries as India responded strongly to Australia’s first-innings total of 293.

The cricketing world truly took notice when Vaibhav announced his arrival in style during the Indian Premier League 2025 season, producing breathtaking knocks in just seven outings. He scored 252 runs that year, including a century and a fifty, further cementing his reputation as a generational talent.

When many expected him to struggle with expectations in the 2026 season, Vaibhav elevated his game further. He smashed 440 runs at a staggering strike rate of 236, performances that eventually earned him a call-up to the India A side.

TILAK VARMA TO LEAD INDIA A
