I don't think of hundreds, team's needs my only focus: Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant, who became the first Indian wicketkeeper to score a Test hundred in Australia, said his main focus was always on what the team needed from him. Pant smashed an unbeaten 159 as India declared on 622 for 7 in the first innings of the 4th Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Day 2.

Pant is now only the fourth wicketkeeper with a 150-plus score in Test cricket.

Speaking to the media after day's play, Pant said he was nervous after reaching the 90s as he had missed out on two hundreds against the West Indies at home last year.

"Every hundred I score in international cricket is special for me because I have just started my career. But the main thing is that I don't think about hundreds. I just always think about only one thing, what the team needs from me. That's the only goal I have.

"To be honest, I was a little nervous, because in India when we were playing West Indies, in the last two innings I got out on 92 and 92. So I was scared slightly but I got through that phase early I guess," Pant said.
