Apple quietly prepares new Gen AI website ahead of WWDC 2026

Apple has reportedly created a new genai.apple.com subdomain ahead of WWDC 2026. The move points to a broader generative AI push across Siri, Visual Intelligence, Photos and future Apple Intelligence features.

Apple’s annual WWDC event is set to begin on June 8, and this year, artificial intelligence is expected to dominate the keynote. While Apple has remained secretive as usual about what exactly it plans to announce, one small web-based change may have already hinted at the company’s biggest focus for WWDC 2026.

According to MacRumors, Apple is preparing a new subdomain — genai.apple.com.

The website is not live yet. Attempts to open the page currently lead to connection timeout messages, suggesting that the subdomain has already been registered but has not yet been configured for its final destination.

Still, the timing is notable.

A new “Gen AI” domain appears before WWDC

The genai.apple.com subdomain reportedly appeared on Apple’s domain name servers just weeks before WWDC 2026, where the company has already promised to unveil new “AI advancements” across its software platforms.

Apple already has a dedicated Apple Intelligence webpage, so it remains unclear what exactly the new Gen AI domain will be used for. However, the move strongly suggests that generative AI will be one of the biggest talking points during the event.

Apple’s upcoming software updates, including iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27, are expected to introduce several new Apple Intelligence features.

Siri may become more conversational

One of the biggest expected changes is a more personalised version of Siri with on-screen awareness. Reports suggest Apple is working on making Siri behave more like chatbots such as ChatGPT, allowing users to have more natural back-and-forth conversations through a dedicated Siri app.

Apple is also reportedly revamping its Visual Intelligence feature, which first arrived with the iPhone 16 in 2024. Currently, the feature uses services like ChatGPT to analyse photos and provide information. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple plans to integrate Visual Intelligence more deeply into the camera app in iOS 27 as a dedicated Siri mode, although detailed functionality remains unclear for now.

AI tools may also arrive in the Photos app

The Photos app could also receive a major AI boost. Gurman previously reported that iOS 27 may introduce new AI-powered tools that allow users to extend, enhance, and reframe images directly inside the Photos app.

That means Apple users may soon get editing tools similar to those already offered by AI-powered apps and competing platforms.

Google Gemini may play a bigger role

Meanwhile, Google has already confirmed that its Gemini AI models will help power future Apple Intelligence features. Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian mentioned the Apple partnership during the Google Cloud Next 2026 conference in Las Vegas, signaling that Apple may increasingly rely on outside AI models as it expands its own AI ecosystem.
