A young man scattered almonds across a government officer’s desk to call out alleged negligence over a missing property file in a now-viral video from Chhattisgarh.

The incident took place at the Tifra Housing Board office, where the man, identified as Tarun Sahu, claimed that his file related to property mutation had been missing for over a year.

Frustrated by repeated delays and lack of resolution, he resorted to a symbolic act, spreading almonds, often associated with improving memory, across the desk of a Sub-Registrar (Deputy Registrar) officer. He also shared a video of the incident on social media.

According to Sahu, he had purchased an EWS flat through resale around a year ago. However, despite multiple visits and follow-ups, the mutation process has not been completed, as officials have repeatedly told him that his file could not be located and was likely “lost.” The delay has left him without proper ownership documentation.

In a bid to draw attention to the issue, Sahu used the almonds as a visual metaphor, implying that the department needed to “improve its memory” to find the missing file. The act, while unusual, quickly caught public attention for its pointed message.

The video gained traction on social media, with several users pointing out broader concerns around bureaucratic inefficiency, delays in public services, and lack of accountability in government offices.

Sahu urged authorities to intervene, trace the missing documents, and complete the mutation process without further delay. The incident reignited conversations about the everyday challenges citizens face while navigating administrative systems.
