Tired of mosquitoes in his area, a security guard decided to wrap himself in a mosquito net during his night shift duty in a housing society in Hyderabad.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, the security guard was seen sitting on a chair in the complex, covered with a mosquito net. By doing so, he attempted to shield himself from persistent mosquito bites while continuing his work.

As the video went viral, social media users highlighted the harsh working conditions faced by ground-level staff.

While some praised the guard’s resourcefulness and commitment, others urged civic authorities to take immediate steps to address the underlying issues. For many, the moment has come to symbolise broader public health and infrastructure gaps that demand urgent attention.

“Indians should learn from foreign countries how they manage their domestic workers. The local administration should ensure that societies provide proper facilities for security guards,” one of the comments read.

Many others said that compassion seemed to be missing both at home and in the workplace, adding that it stemmed from empathy but was often seen as a weakness despite being a valuable trait. Describing the situation as “troubling,” a user emphasised that a person without empathy, however, is not even human.

As the video continues to circulate, it has shifted focus onto the everyday realities of those who keep residential spaces running through the night, bringing into view concerns that often go unnoticed until moments like these force them into the public eye.
