Iran confirms indirect talks with US via intermediaries, calls proposals unrealistic

Iran has confirmed that talks are underway with the United States of America, but clarified that these are not direct negotiations. According to Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghai, discussions are happening through intermediaries who are conveying messages between the two sides. Iran has rejected America's proposals, describing them as 'mostly unrealistic, unreasonable and excessive'. The Iranian foreign ministry had previously stated that there are no direct talks happening, and that Iran does not trust negotiations with America. Iran cited two previous instances where talks were disrupted by attacks - the charity war during earlier negotiations, and a second attack while the foreign minister was in Geneva. Iran is demanding that America retreat. The ongoing conflict between Iran, Israel and the USA is having a significant impact on the global economy, particularly affecting West Asia, with concerns over energy, fuel, essential commodities and food security, specifically focused on the Strait of Hormuz.
