Ahmedabad medical student missing in Georgia for 12 days; family seeks PM's help
The student, Dhanvit Rajdip, who moved to Europe's Georgia from war-torn Ukraine, started having major altercations with his landlord a few days ago.

A 23-year-old medical student from Ahmedabad, Dhvanit Rajdeep, has been missing in Georgia for the last 12 days, leaving his parents in deep distress. Dhvanit, who previously moved from war-torn Ukraine to Caucasus International University in Georgia, last spoke to his father on May 14 before his phone abruptly disconnected and went off.
According to his father, Mayur Rajdeep, Dhvanit was facing severe harassment from his landlord, a South Indian man named Anil, and his roommates at his paying guest accommodation.
They allegedly stole his money, food, and clothes. When Dhvanit decided to move out, Anil refused to return his deposit and, along with his accomplices, extorted money, totalling $6,500, from Dhvanit's account, while keeping him locked in a room and seizing his phone.
Following his release, Mayur sent Dhvanit a flight ticket back to India. Dhvanit collected his passport and phone to leave for the airport when his call suddenly cut off mid-conversation.
Dhvanit's parents revealed that while the Indian Embassy and local political leaders are assisting them, they are receiving no cooperation from the Georgian police, local administration, or the university.
Meanwhile, it has also come to light that Dhvanit’s father had reached out to Anil well before his son went missing. Their WhatsApp chat history revealed that Dhvanit had multiple altercations with Anil, including an incident where he allegedly hit Anil’s girlfriend. In retaliation, Anil had threatened Dhvanit’s father, warning that he would severely beat up the student for his actions.
Dhvanit's elder brother, Mihir, has reached Georgia from Canada and is continuously checking with the police and the college. Through him, Dhanvit’s parents got to know that the local administration has not taken any serious steps against the accused, Anil, his friend Manya, and a local Georgian. All of them have been released after a brief round of questioning.
The family has earnestly appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to intervene with the Georgian administration to help locate and safely bring their son back.
