Row erupts over offering namaz at 200-year-old mosque inside Lucknow University

A namaz controversy has erupted at Lucknow University in Uttar Pradesh, with pro and anti namaz groups facing off over prayers at a 200-year-old mosque located within the university campus. Some students are insisting on offering namaz inside the mosque, while others are opposing it, leading to a showdown. The mosque was sealed, prompting students to break into one of the rooms to conduct prayers. Students present at the scene stated that the gate of the mosque has been shut down during the month of Ramzan, preventing Muslims from reading Ramazan prayers. They emphasised unity, noting that Hindu students outnumber Muslims at the site and are standing in solidarity with the Muslim community. The row highlights tensions over religious practices within the university campus.
