MUZAFFARPUR CENTRE SEES UPROAR

In Bihar’s Muzaffarpur, chaos erupted at the BB College examination centre after the second and third shifts of the SSC GD exam were cancelled.

Candidates who had travelled from several districts in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh alleged that they were informed about the cancellation only after reaching the centre.

According to local inputs, students began protesting inside the campus, questioning why there was no official notice on the SSC website despite announcements at the centre through loudspeakers.

Many candidates also raised concerns that while some students had already appeared for the exam, others were suddenly being sent back without clarity.

Police personnel were deployed at the centre after tensions escalated.

Officials reportedly informed students through mic announcements that the cancelled shifts would be conducted again on another date.

KANPUR OVERBOOKING SPARKED CONFUSION

The biggest controversy surfaced in Kanpur, where more than 800 candidates reportedly arrived at a centre that had capacity for only 399 students per shift.

Reports stated that admit cards had been issued far beyond the centre’s actual seating strength, creating massive overcrowding.

As confusion grew, angry candidates gathered outside the centre and protests followed. Police and administrative officials later reached the spot to manage the situation.

The SSC GD examination scheduled there on May 25 was eventually cancelled.

GORAKHPUR STUDENTS DEMAND SAME-DAY EXAM

In Gorakhpur too, SSC GD aspirants protested outside St Andrews College after allegedly being denied entry because of seat mismatch issues.

Students demanded that the examination be conducted the same day, saying many had travelled long distances and spent money on transport and accommodation.

The incident added to growing frustration among candidates appearing for one of India’s biggest recruitment examinations.

A similar situation was reported in Prayagraj’s Andawa area, where chaos erupted at the I-Tech Zone exam centre located inside Sunita Singh Sita Singh Mahila Mahavidyalaya.

According to local reports, more than double the number of candidates were allegedly allotted to the centre during the second and third shifts. While the centre reportedly had around 650 computers, over 1,000 candidates each were assigned for both later shifts.

As candidates realised there were not enough systems available, protests escalated into vandalism. Reports claimed that computer systems, monitors, servers, chairs, CCTV cameras, coolers and water coolers were damaged during the chaos.

Angry aspirants also allegedly blocked the GT Road near Jain Mandir, disrupting traffic before police intervened and cleared the area.

Authorities later pasted a notice at the centre informing candidates that the affected examinations would be rescheduled on a later date.

SSC ISSUES RESCHEDULING NOTICE

Following the chaos, SSC issued an official notice stating that the cancelled Constable (GD) Exam 2026 scheduled on May 25 would now be “rescheduled in forthcoming exam days, i.e. 27-05-2026 onwards.”

The Commission also said fresh admit cards for affected candidates would be uploaded on the official SSC website.

For thousands of aspirants preparing for jobs in forces like BSF, CISF and CRPF, the day became less about the exam and more about uncertainty, long waits and unanswered questions.
