The NEET UG 2026 row has turned into a major national issue after the May 3 exam was cancelled over a confirmed paper leak, affecting more than 22 lakh medical aspirants.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that the re-examination will now be held on June 21, with no fresh registration or additional fees for candidates.

Authorities have pointed to the involvement of an organised "exam mafia" and promised strict action against those responsible. At the same time, the government has outlined revised exam arrangements, including a fresh city choice window and new admit cards.
The controversy has triggered student protests, political criticism, and renewed calls for exam reforms, including a possible shift to computer-based testing in the coming years.
