In Puducherry, about 9.5 lakh voters decided the fate of 294 candidates across 30 seats, with the NDA aiming to retain power amid a strong challenge from the INDIA bloc. Kerala Election Voting: LDF eyes hat-trick, UDF comeback, NDA entry

In Kerala, 2.71 crore voters are set to decide the future of the ruling LDF, the opposition UDF, and the BJP-led NDA. Polling will be held in a single phase from 7 am to 6 pm across all 140 constituencies, where 883 candidates are in the fray.

The contest is largely between the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), though the NDA is trying to emerge as a third force.

The LDF, led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, is seeking a rare third straight term, banking on its governance record, welfare schemes and infrastructure push. However, it faces anti-incumbency and criticism after recent electoral setbacks.

The UDF sees an opportunity to return to power, highlighting issues like governance and alleged corruption, and relying on Kerala’s trend of alternating governments.

The NDA is aiming to make a breakthrough in the state Assembly, positioning itself as an alternative to both fronts after improving its vote share in recent elections.
