Pithapuram Assembly Election 2024: Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan wins by over 70,000 votes

After the completion of 18 rounds of counting, Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan, who is in alliance with the BJP has won the Pithapuram assembly seat with a margin of 70279 votes.

Pithapuram Assembly Election Results 2024: After seven rounds of polling over six weeks and a record number of votes cast, India stands on the precipice of a historic verdict. The country will find out today whether the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will continue for a third straight term or if the opposition INDIA bloc will cause an upset.

Counting of votes began at 8 am sharp at counting centres across the country. Postal ballots were counted first, before EVMs were opened at 8:30 am.

Very early leads show the NDA, which already has one seat in its kitty after the BJP candidate won unopposed in Surat, leading on 221 seats, outstripping the INDIA bloc, which was ahead on 132 seats. Pithapuram Assembly Election Results 2024: According to data from the Election Commission of India, the estimated voter turnout in this Andhra Pradesh constituency for the 2024 Assembly elections was 81.45%. This is a slight decrease from the 81.71% turnout in 2019. In previous years, the turnout was 79.47% in 2014 and 78.34% in 2009. The 2024 turnout showed a -0.26% change compared to 2019.

Pithapuram Assembly Election Results 2024: "The counting process is underway at all the places. We have given strict instructions to all the DMs, SPs and COs (central observers) that the process of counting is done transparently and as per rulebook," says Chief Election Commission Rajiv Kumar.

Pithapuram Assembly Election Results 2024: In the 2019 elections, the Pithapuram constituency had 229,724 registered voters, with a turnout of 80.2%. YSRCP candidate Dorababu Pendem won the constituency with a margin of 14,992 votes. The YSRCP achieved a landslide victory, securing 151 out of 175 seats, and formed the government with Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy as Chief Minister. Meanwhile, the incumbent TDP, led by N. Chandrababu Naidu, saw its influence diminish significantly, winning only 23 seats.

A total of 2,30,188 voters were registered for the 2024 Pitapuram Lok Sabha election comprising 1,15,361 males, 1,14,823 females, and 4 individuals of the third gender.
