Sibsagar Assembly Election Result Live: Congress ally Akhil Gogoi wins the battle in Ahom Heartland

Raijor Dal chief Akhil Gogoi turned victorious in the Sibsagar seat with a massive margin of 17,272. Akhil Gogoi secured a total of 86521 votes. In the 2021 polls, Gogoi won by a margin of 11,875, and this time he has widened the margin of votes. The BJP candidate, Kushal Dowari, secured 69249 votes. 
 

Rajori Dal's Akhil Gogoi is leading with over 12,000 votes after completion of 17 rounds of counting. With three more rounds of counting remaining, all eyes are on the BJP candidate, Kushal Dowari.

Akhil Gogoi has taken a decisive leap in the Sibsagar contest, stretching his lead to over 11,000 votes after completion of 15 rounds of counting. In the 2021 assembly elections, Akhil Gogoi had won by a margin of 11,875 votes.

The friendly fight between NDA allies BJP and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has widely hurt each other. The AGP candidate, Prodip Hazarika, after 13 rounds of counting, has achieved 9897 votes and BJP's Kushal Dowari is trailing against Rajori Dal's Akhil Gogoi by nearly 10,000 votes.

This time, he contested as part of the Congress-led Opposition alliance, which he confidently predicted would cross 70 seats and form the government just days ago.

Akhil Gogoi's Raijor Dal is an important constituent of the Congress-led alliance in Assam.

Prodip Hazarika of the Asom Gana Parishad is at a distant third with 1,237 votes, while multiple Independents remain far behind.
