Food Safety Department teams in Uttar Pradesh have launched a sweeping crackdown on adulterated food items ahead of Holi. In Ghaziabad, five teams destroyed nearly 2,500 kilograms of fake paneer and 200 kilograms of mawa in just 72 hours. In Kanpur Dehat's Rania Industrial Area, a 35-member team led by the Joint Commissioner from Lucknow seized nearly 30,000 containers of edible oil, including pouches, cans and tins, from four factories. Widespread irregularities were found and samples sent for testing. In Gautam Buddhnagar, around 200 kilograms of suspected adulterated paneer was recovered and destroyed on the spot. In Saharanpur, officials seized approximately 6.30 quintals of suspected spurious paneer stored without licence or registration during raids. The operations targeted suppliers of fake paneer, meva and suspicious edible oil across multiple districts to ensure festive food safety during the Holi rush.
