The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has lodged a fresh case in connection with the alleged irregularities in the Gomti river front project in Lucknow, which was undertaken during the Akhliesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh. This comes ahead of the assembly election in UP.
Multiple teams of CBI officials on Monday conducted searches at 42 locations -- 40 in UP, one each in Rajasthan and Kolkata, sources told India Today.
The operation, which started early in the morning, is still underway and may be expanded during the course of the day.
India Today has also learnt that the CBI has named 189 persons as accused in the case, including 16 public servants and 173 private persons.
