On whether English education is a boon or a bane for India, William Dalrymple said, "English is useful. I mean, English is just, you know, obviously an international language. And in a sense, it's one of India's great advantages over China, that there are so many people here fluent in the language, which is the main international language today. But people revert into Hindi in conversation when it suits them. So it seems to me you've got the best of both worlds."
