Singer Arijit Singh has finally broken the silence on the song 'Gerua' that he sang for the movie Dilwale-- a song that ignited a political slugfest between the ruling TMC and the BJP in West Bengal. While addressing a concert in Kolkata, Singh said gerua (saffron) is the colour of sannyasis (hermits) and he failed to understand why there was so much hue and cry over the colour. Singh sang the song 'Gerua' in the presence of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the Kolkata International Film Festival last year. The song 'Gerua' was in the eye of the storm, which the BJP and the TMC were using to take potshots at each other.
