Sonam Wangchuk's 21-day fast in Ladakh has a Gandhi connect

The fast aims to remind the government of their commitment to protect Ladakh's unique environment and its indigenous tribal culture. Amidst this backdrop of environmental concern, Wangchuk's fast also underscores the broader demands of the Ladakhi people for statehood and constitutional safeguards under the 6th Schedule, aiming to preserve their land, jobs, and distinct identity following Ladakh's transition to a Union Territory in 2019.
