Vikramjit Singh Sahney explains why he switched to BJP from AAP

In an interview with India Today Consulting Editor Rajdeep Sardesai, Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney discussed his decision to leave the Aam Aadmi Party and join the Bharatiya Janata Party. Addressing allegations of switching sides for power, he stated, "There is no crisis which is not there in Punjab from A to Z," citing agrarian issues, brain drain, and a burgeoning debt of four and a half lakh crore. He denied facing any coercion or pressure from investigative agencies, asserting, "I swear by God, there was no pressure, first of all." He explained that his departure was driven by the sidelining of key AAP figures like Raghav Chadha and Sandeep Pathak, noting, "Raghav was shunted out of Punjab, sorry to say." He also mentioned meeting Arvind Kejriwal before his exit and later speaking with the Home Minister, who assured him of support for Punjab. Dismissing claims of ideological differences between the parties, he emphasised his commitment to the state's welfare and rejected the label of a traitor, comparing his group's actions to the Ghadar movement.
