In a big jolt for Congress ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls, Jitin Prasada, a prominent young face from the state, has quit the party to join BJP. He joined the BJP in the presence of Union minister Piyush Goyal and its chief spokesperson Anil Baluni.
Jitin, who was part of the group of 23 leaders who had written to Sonia Gandhi last October seeking organisational overhaul, said if there was one party in the country that talks in the national interest, then it is the BJP. "If anyone standing with the country and its people in these testing times, then it's BJP and PM Modi. Others have become regional parties," he said.
So, will Jitin Prasada's exit hurt Priyanka Gandhi's Mission UP?
