The 36-year-old filmmaker shared a heartfelt birthday message for Akshaye on X, in which he expressed his excitement of working with the actor.

Update on Mahakali shoot
In Mahakali, Akshaye plays the role of Asura guru Shukracharya. The film is directed by Puja Kolluru and is part of Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU), which comprises Hanu-Man (2024), its upcoming sequel Jai Hanuman and the under-development project Adhira, besides Mahakali.
Mahakali is also Akshaye’s debut in Telugu cinema. The film, centred on a female superhero, is highly anticipated by audiences.
Other upcoming project
In addition to Mahakali, Akshaye will also appear in Siddharth P. Malhotra’s film Ikka, alongside Sunny Deol. He is expected to play the main antagonist. The cast also includes Dia Mirza, Tillotama Shome, and Sanjeeda Shaikh. Ikka will be released directly on Netflix.
