As the winters are coming & the stubble burning season is also here. The air quality of Delhi was recorded poor & it might dip more in the coming months. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has launched a new campaign i.e 'Red Light On, Gaadi Off'. This is a part of the main campaign ‘Yudh, Pradushan Ke Virudh’.
As the name suggests this is a war against the pollution & turn off your vehicle's engine at the Traffic Signal.
According to CM Kejriwal, on an average, a vehicle stops at a red light for 15-20 minutes in a day consuming 200 ml of fuel. This fuel creates so much pollution. If 10 lakh vehicles switch off the engine at a red light, 1.5 tonnes of PM 10 and 0.4 tonnes of PM 2.5 will be prevented every year.
Switching off vehicle engines will not only stop pollution but also result in saving of Rs 7,000 per vehicle per year
