Two gruesome rapes shock the country: Ghastly details emerge from Unnao and Kathua

Today's Indepth focuses on two rape cases that have rocked the nation over the past week. In a gut-wrenching story- an eight year old was abducted, sedated, gang-raped for six days and murdered J&K's Kathua district this January.

Chilling details have emerged from the chargesheet filed by J&K Police on Monday. BJP leaders and lawyers in Jammu claim that the case is an attempt to target Hindus in Jammu.

Our other focus- a 17 year old in Unnao has accused a BJP legislator of raping her and his brother of torturing her father. The rape survivor told's statement to the judicial magistrate says police did not allow her to name BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar in her statement.

The rape survivor’s father died in police custody- his post mortem report shows excessive trauma. Questions are being raised on the manner in which U.P Police has handled the case.
