A look at past India-Canada relationship as diplomatic ties turn sour

Amid escalating tensions related to the Nijjar killing incident, the Canadian High Commission will curtail its diplomatic presence in India. 

Relations between both countries have been strained following allegations by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau about India's supposed role in the death of Sikh separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada earlier this year. India has categorically rejected these claims as baseless and has issued a travel advisory for its nationals in Canada.

The diplomatic crisis has led to a security situation in both countries concerning the safety of diplomats and staff.
